Everyone Wants A 160 Square Foot Shed!
Ontario now allows you to build a shed up to 15m2 or 161.5 sq ft with no permit in most regions - so long as it is used for storage. You may need to double check with your muncipality to confirm.
The 160 Sheds give you the most bang for the buck, optimizing size to cost ratios, especially if you want to upgrade it to a year round bunkie. However, if you choose to upgrade to a 4 season dwelling unit, permits may be needed.
The following sheds are best for:
- Toronto 160 (our most popular model), 16 wide x 10 deep, with double doors and Windows in the long wall, is a super cute garden shed or upgraded to a bunkie or rest nook. Also has a little sister model the Toronto
- Scarborough 160 is longer than wide, 10 wide x 16 deep with door and windows on the end, and windows on each long wall and can be used exactly like the Toronto 160. Could be perfect as a driveway store.
- Kansas 160 and the Billings 160 are more square in shape, with the Kansas 160 giving you nice head space if you wanted bunk beds. Excellent for storage or workshop.
- Workshop A is the most "garage like" and best for a lawn tractor, motorcycle or small boats/canoes.
- The Diana 160 and Luna 160 would be perfect as an office, pool house, garden lounge or a craft nook.
- Last but not least, the Ontario Bunkie 160 is a bunkie with a nifty loft. Built as is, is perfect for a 3 season hangout - but can be upgraded to all season.
Can it be a Bunkie?
YES! The best models for a Bunkie with full insulation and upgrades:
Best for an Office, Pool House or similar:
As these models have lots of large windows and tricky spaces they will be costly to insulate and keep warm. However, if cost is not an issue, this can be done. These two models also have big sisters: the Diana and the Luna 3 if you like the look but wanted more space.
All the other models above can also be an office, workshop, chicken shack, driveway store, or whatever your imagination can come up with.
Best for a Small Garage or Workshop
DIY Friendly!
All models are DIY Friendly and can be built on a wood base, paving stones or concrete pad. Windows and doors are included with the kit. To save on costs, building yourself is a great way to go. If you can hold a drill and a hammer, you're good to go.
Once built, these sheds will be finished with no ugly wall studs or wall cavities all over the place - just make sure you stain it and get the roofing on! These can likely be built in a day with extra help or over a weekend.
What is included?
All 160 models include floor boards, roof slats, windows, doors, all timber and screws needed to build the kit. Virtually no cuts. (Except Workshop A: does not include floor boards).
What is NOT included?
Roofing (steel/shingles, ice & water barrier), ground prep, foundation, stain, insulation, cladding, electrical, build team and/or any other options, customisations, landscaping, or if needed, permits.
